en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 29, Thyssenkrupp Uhde Germany confirmed that it had been awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract by a subsidiary of CF Industries Holdings, Inc. of the United States for a urea solution upgrading unit in Canada. The project is located at the Courtright production site in Ontario and involves the construction of a new urea solution upgrading facility that will use existing carbon dioxide resources at the site to expand production capacity for diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), with planned additional annual capacity of more than 400,000 US short tons, equivalent to approximately 363,000 metric tons.

The new unit will integrate its process with existing production assets at the Courtright site, with a focus on utilizing the carbon dioxide stream that is currently underutilized at the facility. Thyssenkrupp Uhde will undertake the front-end engineering design study for the proposed urea solution upgrading unit, while the project construction plan remains subject to the owner's final investment decision.

CF Industries confirmed the signing of the engineering design agreement in its first-half operating announcement on August 5, 2026, and included the project in its strategic growth plan. According to the schedule announced by the owner at that time, the project is expected to reach a final investment decision in 2027.
