Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 16, Ericsson has officially inaugurated its new office in Hanoi, marking an important step in its 32-year presence in Vietnam. The move highlights Ericsson’s continued commitment to supporting Vietnam’s digital transformation and expanding its role in advancing connectivity and innovation.

The Hanoi office is 5G enabled with Enterprise Virtual Cellular Network (EVCN), a solution developed by Ericsson that allows enterprises to manage and control 5G connectivity for devices such as 5G laptops and IT applications directly over 5G networks instead of traditional wi-fi. This technology reflects the company’s vision of enabling enterprises with reliable and advanced communication infrastructure.

Vietnam has set a target for the digital economy to contribute up to 30% of GDP by 2030, with 5G identified as a critical national infrastructure. Ericsson’s new office aims to foster collaboration with government, operators, enterprises, and academia to accelerate digitalization across key sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, and smart cities.

As part of the office inauguration, Ericsson presented several technology demonstrations to showcase the capabilities of 5G and advanced connectivity:

Holographic Communication: enabling immersive, real-time 3D communication across distances.

XR Smart Glasses: lightweight, AI-powered glasses offering real-time translation, navigation, and productivity tools.

Superior Uplink Carrier Aggregation: highlighting enhanced uplink performance for seamless live streaming, cloud gaming, and professional broadcasting.

Immersive Sports Fan Engagement: creating interactive experiences with real-time statistics and personalized views for spectators.

5G Robotics: featuring robotic dogs powered by AI and 5G, designed for industrial safety, inspection, and emergency response.

These demonstrations illustrate the potential of 5G to transform consumer experiences, business operations, and broader societal applications.

The new Hanoi office also strengthens Ericsson’s contribution to Vietnam’s innovation ecosystem. Through initiatives such as Ericsson Educate with PTIT, the AI Lab with RMIT, and an MoU with the University of Transport and Communications, the company continues to support talent development, research, and collaboration with local institutions.

Rita Mokbel, President of Ericsson Vietnam, said: “The opening of our new office in Hanoi demonstrates Ericsson’s long-term commitment to Vietnam. Together with our partners, we helped lay the foundation for 2G, then moved step by step through 3G and 4G. And today, we are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Viettel, VNPT, and Mobifone as we bring 5G to life in Vietnam. As Vietnam moves rapidly toward its vision of becoming a high-income digital economy, we look forward to continuing our role as a trusted partner, supporting the country’s digital transformation and sustainable growth. The government’s emphasis on R&D, talent, and legal reforms creates an environment where Ericsson can deepen our local presence, working with local suppliers, contributing to regional innovation hubs, and reinforcing our role as a trusted partner in Vietnam’s digital journey.”

The new facility represents Ericsson’s broader ambition to deliver advanced 5G solutions while supporting Vietnam’s strategy to build a strong, innovative, and sustainable digital economy.
