Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 6, TM Global, the wholesale arm of Telekom Malaysia, has completed its fifth cable landing station in Morib, Selangor, Malaysia. The 7,000-square-foot Morib CLS is an open facility designed to enable multiple service providers to connect and exchange data efficiently. It supports up to three submarine cable systems, including the Sea-Me-We 6, and features a dedicated Network Operations Centre (NOC) for 24/7 real-time monitoring to ensure reliable operations.
The station incorporates sustainable features, such as low-power cooling systems and solar-powered streetlights, to minimize environmental impact. Strategically positioned along the Straits of Malacca, a critical global subsea cable route, the Morib CLS provides direct international connectivity, enhanced route diversity, and reduced latency. Its proximity to Klang Valley’s data center clusters facilitates seamless network integration, optimizing data transmission efficiency.
Khairul Liza Ibrahim, TM Global’s executive vice president, stated: “The completion of the Morib CLS represents a pivotal step in enhancing Malaysia’s global connectivity. Strategically located along the Straits of Malacca, one of the world’s most important subsea cable routes, the open CLS serves as an ideal landing point-offering direct international access, improved route diversity, and reduced latency.”
Ibrahim further noted: “Beyond this milestone, TM Global is enhancing its digital transformation footprint, with data centres and Edge Facilities scaled up to 40MW. Construction is also underway for a new AI-ready data centre in collaboration with Singtel’s Nxera, with a planned capacity of up to 200 MW.”
The Morib CLS strengthens Malaysia’s position as a regional digital hub, supporting the growing demand for high-speed, reliable connectivity. By enabling efficient data exchange, the facility is expected to drive economic growth in Selangor and beyond, fostering opportunities in technology and telecommunications sectors. The collaboration with Singtel’s Nxera for the AI-ready data center further underscores TM Global’s commitment to advancing digital infrastructure and supporting emerging technologies.
The completion of the Morib CLS marks a significant step in Malaysia’s efforts to enhance global connectivity and sustainability, contributing to the nation’s digital economy and reinforcing its role in international data networks.
