Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 3, R Power has begun construction of its 55 MWp Lazuri Solar Park in Satu Mare County, Romania. The project, being developed by NOMAD Electric, was awarded a 15-year Contract for Difference by Romanian authorities, providing long-term support for renewable energy production in the country.

The Lazuri Solar Park will connect to Romania’s national grid through a new 110 kV substation linked to the Vetiș–Abator transmission line. Once operational, the facility is expected to generate around 70 GWh annually, supplying electricity to more than 48,000 households and reducing CO₂ emissions by nearly 17,000 tonnes each year.

Przemek Pieta, CEO and co-founder of R Power, stated: “The start of construction of the Lazuri solar farm highlights our commitment to expanding operations in Romania, which is one of our key markets. Alongside Lazuri, we are developing additional photovoltaic and energy storage (BESS) projects there, strengthening R.Power’s position as a leading energy producer in Europe.”

The company emphasized that the Lazuri project is part of a broader portfolio of renewable energy developments in Romania, supporting both decarbonisation efforts and the country’s energy independence objectives. By combining solar generation with energy storage solutions, R Power aims to provide reliable clean electricity and contribute to grid stability.

The Lazuri Solar Park demonstrates R Power’s strategy to expand its footprint in European markets while advancing sustainable energy initiatives. The project integrates modern photovoltaic technology and efficient grid connections to maximize energy output and environmental benefits.

Overall, the Lazuri Solar Park is expected to play a key role in Romania’s renewable energy landscape. By generating substantial clean electricity and reducing emissions, the facility contributes to regional energy security, supports climate goals, and reinforces R Power’s commitment to sustainable growth in its European operations.

With ongoing developments in photovoltaic and battery storage projects, R Power is positioning itself as a significant contributor to Europe’s energy transition, combining large-scale renewable generation with innovative solutions to meet growing electricity demand and environmental targets.
