Wedoany.com Report-Dec.16, Pure Data Centres Group, supported by Oaktree Capital, has announced plans for a major data centre campus in Amsterdam. The facility will be fully leased to a single hyperscale operator, addressing growing requirements for artificial intelligence and cloud computing infrastructure.

Construction is scheduled to commence in January 2026, with phased commissioning starting from 2028. The campus will feature a dedicated private substation to ensure reliable power supply and is designed to accommodate either AI or cloud applications flexibly.

The development is projected to rank among the largest data centres in Amsterdam by power capacity, contributing additional low-latency infrastructure in a market experiencing high demand and limited availability.

"Amsterdam is one of Europe's most constrained markets for digital infrastructure and Pure DC has again demonstrated its ability to unlock new low-latency, high-quality capacity," said Dame Dawn Childs, CEO at Pure Data Centres Group. "This deal demonstrates how our specialist teams have the creativity and approach to deliver compelling proposals – delivering solutions for local authorities, potential customers, and our supply chain."

Securing a tenant agreement prior to construction represents an uncommon achievement in the sector, reflecting strong pre-commitment amid widespread announcements of data centre projects across Europe this year. Grid capacity limitations and rising AI-related needs continue to influence development timelines continent-wide.

Pure Data Centres emphasized its engagement with surrounding communities. In Amsterdam, the company plans collaboration with local educational institutions to offer training programs and outreach initiatives, alongside partnerships focused on environmental conservation efforts.

The group has advanced several significant projects in 2025. It recently obtained final approvals for the initial phase of a 400 million euro (approximately 470 million U.S. dollars) data centre in Madrid, including a private substation. This first stage provides 30 MW of capacity, with potential expansion to 70 MW across the full campus.

Additionally, Pure Data Centres formed a partnership with SEGRO to develop a 56 MW facility in West London.

"Our collaboration with SEGRO will deliver a next-generation data centre capable of supporting cloud and AI workloads," the Pure Data Centres CEO stated at the time.

These investments underscore the expanding role of specialized digital infrastructure in facilitating Europe's technological advancement and supporting resilient energy systems. The Amsterdam campus, along with parallel developments, positions Pure Data Centres to meet escalating demand from large-scale operators requiring secure, efficient, and scalable computing environments.
