Wedoany.com Report-Dec.18, OSY Group, a food technology company specializing in packaging solutions that extend produce freshness, has formed a new partnership with Multisteps to introduce its technology in the Australian market.
Multisteps, a family-owned multinational firm, designs and produces premium packaging for sectors including fresh produce, meat, seafood, bakery, and ready meals. The five-year agreement, extending to November 2030, will apply OSY Group's antimicrobial coating to packaging for fruits and vegetables sold in Australia.
This collaboration follows similar arrangements secured by OSY Group in the United Kingdom, European Union, and recently in South Africa and Namibia.
The coating creates microscopic structures on packaging surfaces that disrupt microbes, delaying spoilage and preserving produce quality for extended periods.
Marc Braterman, chief executive of OSY Group, said: "This partnership with Multisteps builds on the foundations we have established in the UK and EU markets and the recently-announced agreement in southern Africa. It’s a further step in expanding our technology's application across multiple packaging types and geographies. In addition, it supports our strategy of partnering with market-leading packaging manufacturers worldwide to deliver innovative solutions that extend shelf-life, reduce food waste and provide a point of differentiation in the highly-competitive food packaging market."
The two companies have also initiated cooperation in China, where Multisteps operates a facility, and intend to explore opportunities in the United States together.
Sam Lam, managing director of Multisteps, said: "The RPET punnet has been a trusted, long-standing packaging format for a broad range of fresh fruit and produce. Over our 20-plus years' manufacturing experience, we have developed hundreds of designs to provide our loyal customers with packaging that provides the protection, convenience and presentation required for their products. Our partnership with OSY Group will enable us to present the next evolution of the RPET punnet without compromising any of its existing recyclability and performance credentials. We look forward to working closely with our customers and OSY Group to bring this innovative solution, as well as others, to our customers in all areas of our Asia-Pacific markets during 2026 and beyond."
The partnership enhances packaging functionality while maintaining recyclability, addressing needs for effective preservation in fresh food supply chains. By integrating the coating into established formats like RPET punnets, the solution offers practical benefits for retailers and consumers.
OSY Group's approach focuses on reducing food waste through extended shelf life, supporting efficient distribution and storage. The collaboration with Multisteps leverages the manufacturer's extensive design experience to adapt the technology across various product categories.
This expansion strengthens OSY Group's international presence, building on proven applications in multiple regions. The joint efforts in additional markets demonstrate commitment to broader adoption of freshness-preserving innovations in global food packaging.
