Wedoany.com Report-Dec.29, Recently, China Wuyi Uganda Branch officially received the Letter of Acceptance from the Wakiso District Government of Uganda, successfully winning the bid for the Namulanda-Kajjansi municipal road upgrading and reconstruction project. This marks another significant breakthrough for China Wuyi in Uganda's municipal infrastructure construction sector, and serves as a vivid example of deepening infrastructure cooperation and jointly promoting regional development between China and Uganda under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The project is part of the World Bank-funded "Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area Urban Development Program" (GKMA-UDP) and is one of the key projects driving local urbanization. Located in Wakiso District, with its starting point approximately 25 kilometers from the capital city Kampala, the project involves an approximately 8.2-kilometer road section. The construction scope encompasses municipal road upgrading and drainage system reconstruction, among other aspects, with a planned construction period of 18 months. Upon completion, the project will significantly enhance the road capacity and municipal facility standards in the Wakiso District, effectively alleviating traffic pressure and improving public transportation conditions. Furthermore, by generating employment opportunities and promoting the development of industries such as logistics and commercial services, it will strongly contribute to extending the economic influence of the Greater Kampala metropolitan area to surrounding regions.
