R. Matenokay Tingban, Liberia's Minister of Mines and Energy, recently presided over a ceremony in Monrovia to lay the foundation stone for the new office building of the country's Geological Survey, officially marking the commencement of this construction project. The project is located within the main compound of the Ministry of Mines and Energy and is expected to have a construction period of 12 months.
Upon completion of this construction project, the Liberia Geological Survey will relocate from its current office to the new downtown site. This construction project is part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of the country's mineral resource management and technical service institutions.
After project completion, the original office facilities are planned to be converted into a modern mineral analysis laboratory. This construction project will provide the Geological Survey with centralized office space, aiming to improve its research, data management, and policy support functions.
