VINCI Construction's Urban Dumez leads €62.7 million renovation and expansion of Haguenau Hospital

en.Wedoany.com Reported - VINCI Construction has confirmed that its subsidiary Urban Dumez has been appointed as the lead contractor of the consortium responsible for the design-build contract for the renovation and expansion project of the Centre Hospitalier de Haguenau in France. The project owner is the Centre Hospitalier de Haguenau, and the scope of work includes the construction of a new connecting building, the extension of the existing medical-surgical building, and the renovation of existing hospital spaces.

According to the scope of work published by VINCI Construction, the project involves the construction of a new connecting building of approximately 6,000 m² between the medical-surgical building and the geriatrics and palliative care center, the extension of the medical-surgical building by approximately 2,000 m², and the renovation of approximately 11,500 m² of existing spaces. The hospital's latest project documentation further specifies the construction scale as 8,517 m² of new floor area and 11,433 m² of renovated floor area.

The total project cost announced by the Centre Hospitalier de Haguenau is €62.7 million (including tax), of which €20 million is supported by the Regional Health Agency of Grand Est through the "Ségur Investissement" investment plan. The project also receives funding from the European Union's NextGenerationEU and the French recovery plan. The architectural design team includes RCA – Atelier d'architecture and Emergence Architecture, while the engineering team also includes Groupe OTE, Otélio, and Expur.

Upon completion of the renovation and expansion, the hospital will add 58 beds and day-care places, including 48 medical-surgical beds and 10 day-hospital places. The proportion of single rooms is planned to increase from 30% to 90%, with 194 new single rooms added. The project also includes a new 14-bed oncology inpatient unit, an expanded general internal medicine inpatient unit and geriatric orthopedics unit, as well as enhanced facilities for neurovascular emergencies.

The hospital has submitted its building permit application and plans to commence construction in January 2027. The current schedule indicates that the new and extended sections are planned to be commissioned by the end of 2028, followed by the renovation of existing buildings from 2029 to the end of 2030. The construction schedule published by VINCI Construction runs from December 2026 to February 2031, and the hospital's existing medical operations will continue throughout the construction period.
