The Mayor Jaime Lerner Integrated Bridge, connecting Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil with Ciudad del Este in Paraguay, has officially opened to traffic, becoming the second cross-border bridge spanning the Paraná River.

Named after the former mayor of Ciudad del Este, the bridge is 760 meters long with a main span of 470 meters. It features an asymmetric design, towers reaching 190 meters in height, and required a total investment of 352 million US dollars. Although the project was completed in 2022, administrative approval processes caused delays, and all formalities were only finalized recently, allowing it to open. As a key node in Latin America's transportation integration strategy, the bridge will significantly reduce travel time between Brazil and Paraguay and serves as a vital component in the transportation network connecting the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.
