Recently, as the cutterhead of the "Huashui Fenjin," China's first ultra-large diameter slurry/TBM dual-mode shield tunneling machine, broke through the wall and emerged from the tunnel, the #1 shield section of the Guifeng Mountain Tunnel, part of the JJZQ-3 bid for the Jiangmen to Pearl River Delta Hub Airport section of the Zhu-Zhao High-Speed Railway, was fully completed. As a critical control project for the entire line, the breakthrough of the Guifeng Mountain Tunnel signifies that the construction of the Zhu-Zhao High-Speed Railway has entered its final sprint stage.

The Guifeng Mountain Tunnel has a total length of 15.155 kilometers, with its #1 shield section extending 4,780 meters, making it a key and challenging project for the entire Zhu-Zhao High-Speed Railway line. During construction, the tunnel passed under important structures such as the Jiangmen Tunnel of the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Railway. The geological formations along the tunnel route were complex, posing severe construction challenges. Through process breakthroughs and scientific research innovations, the project team successfully overcame a series of technical difficulties, including attitude control, mud cake formation in the slurry shield, tunneling in water-rich strata, and weathering trough intrusions. This laid a solid technical foundation for efficient tunneling and ensured the smooth completion of this tunnel breakthrough.

Upon its completion and opening, the Zhu-Zhao High-Speed Railway will connect Jiangmen Station with Guangzhou's new airport, achieving seamless integration between rail and air travel. It will facilitate one-hour connectivity between major cities along the Pearl River Delta, further enhancing Jiangmen's status as a comprehensive transportation hub in western Guangdong.
