The Ministry of Mines and Energy of Colombia will grant the official exploration permit for the Condor Paipa Geothermal Project, led by the Dewhurst Group, located in the jurisdiction of Paipa, Boyacá. This permit, based on verification of technical and administrative procedure compliance, allows for advancing exploration work of geothermal resources in the area.

The project is being carried out in an area where geothermal potential has been identified, following years of technical studies, geological analysis, and resource assessment, positioning Paipa as one of the key zones for geothermal development in Colombia. The Condor Paipa project employs an integrated approach of resource assessment, environmental management, and local coordination, aiming to evaluate the potential of geothermal resources for renewable electricity generation and direct heat utilization.

Direct applications of geothermal resources may cover areas such as agriculture, tourism, scientific research, and academic training. The official ceremony for the delivery of the geothermal exploration permit is scheduled for Friday, February 27, 2026, at 8:30 AM at the Pablo Solano Auditorium in Paipa, Boyacá.

The event is expected to be attended by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Edwin Palma, and will bring together national and local authorities, regulatory bodies, business representatives, international cooperation agencies, academia, and local communities. The event aims to formally deliver the permit and provide a platform for exchange on project development and national geothermal progress.

The granting of this permit marks the formal entry into the exploration phase for geothermal resources and is part of initiatives to assess Colombia's geothermal energy potential.
