Wedoany.com Report on Feb 24th, The Great Plains Transportation Museum announced on February 23 that it has successfully raised an additional $50,000 to restore the Santa Fe FP45 locomotive No. 93. This funding will help address hidden rust and damage discovered on the locomotive while it was being prepared for its cosmetic restoration.

Museum President Heather Garton stated: "While the GoFundMe campaign raised a portion of the funds, the majority came from individuals who made direct donations or pledged their support. Many supporters learned about the restoration needs through our announcements and gave generously. Every contribution to the Santa Fe No. 93 cosmetic restoration project is crucial, and we are grateful for the support of everyone who wants to see the locomotive looking its best again, painted in its red and silver livery."

The restoration work is currently underway at the Midwest Locomotive & Car Company in Kansas City, Missouri, and is expected to be completed in the spring or early summer. This FP45 locomotive was manufactured by EMD and delivered to the Santa Fe Railway in December 1967, initially used for passenger service. Following the establishment of Amtrak in May 1971, it transitioned to freight operations. The locomotive received its last paint job in 1990, was retired in 1999, and donated to the Great Plains Transportation Museum in June of the same year. The museum is still accepting donations for this restoration project to support the work on the Santa Fe FP45 locomotive.
