Wedoany.com Report on 9th, SpaceX has disabled the mobile usage option for its $5 per month Standby Mode plan within its Starlink satellite internet service. Users recently discovered that the mobile app displays a prompt stating "Starlink on the move is disabled," indicating that this plan no longer supports internet connectivity while driving or traveling.

The Starlink Standby Mode was launched in August this year as the most economical monthly option, offering a speed cap of 500 Kbps with unlimited data. This plan originally allowed users to pause their premium subscription while maintaining low-cost access, making it particularly suitable for use with portable Mini antennas in remote areas.
With the removal of the mobility feature, users who need internet access while on the move must upgrade to the Roam plan starting at $50 per month. On social media, one user commented, "Too many people were abusing it, so they had to lock it down. The same story plays out again and again." Another user on Reddit stated, "It's a shame, [Standby Mode] was the best overall plan for emergency use on the road. It's still available but loses a major advantage of mobile use."
SpaceX has not publicly explained this change, but the Starlink official website support page now notes: "Using Standby Mode to pause service is not available for mobile use." Additionally, the company has imposed a speed limit of 100 miles per hour for mobile use on its Roam and Priority plans and has introduced a high-priced Aviation plan for private jet users. Consequently, some affected users are considering canceling their subscriptions.
