Wedoany.com Report on Mar 10th, Avangrid has completed the installation of the Tower Solar project located in Morrow County, Oregon, USA. The project has a DC capacity of 166 MW and is expected to commence commercial operation by the end of this year. It utilizes solar panels assembled by SEG Solar in Houston.

Jose Antonio Miranda, CEO of Avangrid, stated: "This is a significant milestone for the Tower Solar project, demonstrating how investments in U.S. energy infrastructure drive economic growth. Assembling modules in Texas supports American jobs and manufacturing, the construction has developed the local workforce, and once operational, the project will strengthen the regional grid with new power to meet growing demand."

The solar project will supply power to the Portland General Electric (PGE) grid and support a new QTS data center campus in the region. Tower Solar is located west of Boardman, Oregon, occupying approximately 900 acres of industrial land at the Port of Morrow.

Jim Wood, CEO of SEG Solar, said: "SEG Solar is proud to support Avangrid's Tower Solar project by supplying high-quality modules manufactured at our Houston facility. This project reflects our ongoing commitment to product quality, manufacturing excellence, and building strong partnerships in the U.S. market."

Avangrid created approximately 200 construction jobs during the project build, primarily filled by local union labor. Tower Solar is projected to pay about $20 million in payments-in-lieu-of-taxes and property taxes to support public services such as education.

Tower Solar will supply power to the PGE grid through the Green Future Impact (GFI) program. GFI is a voluntary program designed to help large customers achieve their sustainability and carbon reduction goals by developing new clean energy facilities. PGE's GFI program allows large customers to choose emission-free energy without increasing costs for other customers, and all customers benefit from the energy.
