Wedoany.com Report on Mar 18th, The steel superstructure for the Maigue River Bridge, a key component of the Adare Bypass project in County Limerick, Ireland, has recently arrived at Foynes Port. Manufactured by the Italian company Cimolai, the bridge steel structure was transported from the company's factory in northern Italy and completed unloading at Foynes Port last week after more than two weeks of sea transport. All components are currently stored in the port yard and will be transported to the construction site in approximately 60 truckloads over the next three weeks.

The Maigue River Bridge is a critical engineering element of the Adare Bypass project, which is part of the N21/N69 Foynes to Limerick scheme. The 7-kilometer bypass aims to divert 80% of through traffic away from the village of Adare, alleviating long-standing local congestion issues. Constructed by the Sisk and Sorensen joint venture, the project commenced in January 2025 and is scheduled for completion by June 2027, in time to serve the Ryder Cup golf tournament held that year. With a total investment of approximately €150 million, the project also includes two railway bridges and two grade-separated interchanges. The arrival of the bridge steel structure marks a significant milestone in the project's progress.
The Adare Bypass project will connect the villages of Croom and Adare, significantly improving transportation links in western County Limerick upon completion. The project team stated that the on-site assembly and erection of the bridge steel structure will proceed in an orderly manner. As an important transportation infrastructure project in the western region of Ireland, the implementation of this bridge steel structure project will provide convenience for local economic development and residents' travel.
