Affordable Housing Project on Trescott Road in Birmingham, UK Begins Construction

Wedoany.com Report on Mar 19th, A development of 10 affordable homes on Trescott Road in Northfield, Birmingham, UK, has commenced construction, aiming to support local families facing housing pressure. Birmingham City Council has reached an agreement with TR Partnership Homes, whereby the latter will build these properties for the housing association Midland Heart, with all homes designated for social rent.

The City Council signed the project agreement with TR Partnership Homes and Midland Heart in September 2025, with families expected to move in by June 2026. This is one of several partnership projects aimed at accelerating the delivery of affordable housing in Birmingham.

Currently, construction has begun on four sites in partnership with developers and housing associations, expected to provide 383 affordable homes. A fifth site on Boleyn Road is scheduled to start construction by the end of March, adding 70 more homes, bringing the total to 453.

Cllr Nicky Brennan, Birmingham City Council's Cabinet Member for Housing and Homelessness, stated: "In the last year alone, the City Council has delivered 1,000 affordable homes." He emphasized: "We want to speed up the delivery process by working with developers and housing associations to transform vacant land into more affordable housing."

Cllr Nicky Brennan added: "The Trescott Road project is a great example of how this partnership can fast-track housing delivery, and I am delighted that 100% of the homes in this development will be affordable." He urged: "I urge more partners to work with us to increase the number of affordable, warm, safe, and energy-efficient homes available for Birmingham residents."

Steve Thompson, Managing Director of TR Partnership Homes, said: "We are proud to be working with Birmingham City Council and Midland Heart to deliver these much-needed affordable homes on Trescott Road." He noted: "Developments like this demonstrate what can be achieved when organizations come together committed to tackling the housing crisis."
