en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 23rd, Recently, led by the Quality Inspection Center of the Farmland Irrigation Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, a high anti-clogging ultra-thin wall drip irrigation tape has been successfully developed through innovative structure and processes. The product significantly improves anti-clogging performance and operational stability while reducing production costs.

The emitter of the drip irrigation tape is the core component of the drip irrigation system that controls water distribution, determining irrigation effectiveness and system lifespan. Its production costs are generally high, and it is prone to deformation and clogging, hindering large-scale popularization and application.
Researchers focused on tackling the clogging mechanism of emitters, optimizing the flow channel structure, and developing the forming process for ultra-thin wall drip irrigation tape. Using computational fluid dynamics, numerical simulation, and indoor hydraulic testing methods, they revealed the sedimentation patterns of sediment in the labyrinth flow channels of emitters through microscopic observation. They further optimized the labyrinth flow channel structure to reduce flow dead zones and introduced a vortex wall-washing design to enhance fluid scouring capability, significantly shortening the retention time of sediment particles and markedly improving the anti-clogging performance of the emitters. Simultaneously, the research team improved high-precision temperature control and multi-point support forming processes, optimized mold structure and material ratios, broke through the production technology bottleneck for ultra-thin walls, and produced drip irrigation tape products with wall thicknesses of only 0.13–0.14 mm. The product combines mechanical strength and durability, maintains a low clogging rate even under high sediment-laden water conditions, and significantly reduces production costs. This achievement provides equipment support for the large-scale promotion of water-saving irrigation technology.
