en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Gujarat Green Revolution Company (GGRC) and the Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD) have jointly launched the Pressurized Irrigation Network System (PINS) project in Rajpara village, Devbhumi Dwarka district, aimed at enhancing water security and agricultural productivity in the water-scarce Okhamandal region.

The project covers the irrigation command areas of the Bhimgaja and Mithikhari dams and is expected to benefit over 300 farmers, enabling efficient irrigation of nearly 800 hectares of farmland. It spans six villages: Rangasar, Nageshwar, Goriyali, Rajpara, Mudvel, and Samlasar, with irrigation water delivered through a pressurized distribution network combined with drip irrigation technology.

The system is expected to reduce water loss, increase crop yields, promote precision agricultural development, and strengthen sustainable natural resource management in this drought-prone area.

The project launch ceremony was attended by Member of the Legislative Assembly Pabubha Manek, Tata Chemicals Vice President Rino Raj, senior GGRC officials, representatives from the irrigation, agriculture, and horticulture departments, personnel from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), local administrative officers, Panchayat members, village leaders, and farmers.

Ashutosh Vadawale, Senior Manager (Technology and Information Systems) at GGRC, noted that over the past 20 years, GGRC has significantly contributed to agricultural development in Gujarat, promoting micro-irrigation on over 2.55 million hectares of land and benefiting more than 1.6 million farmers. He stated that GGRC is promoting the PINS project based on a cluster model to maximize the use of surface water resources, and the Okhamandal project aims to provide reliable irrigation to farmers, supporting them in achieving multiple cropping, shifting to high-value crops, increasing cropping intensity, and boosting agricultural income.

Chintan Joshi, Head of Corporate Advocacy, Communication, and Corporate Social Responsibility at Tata Chemicals, stated that the launch of the PINS project marks a significant step in strengthening water security and agricultural resilience in the region. Through collaboration with GGRC, the goal is to help farmers optimize water use while enhancing productivity and livelihoods by establishing an efficient irrigation network.

This PINS project is part of a series of initiatives by TCSRD and its partners to promote sustainable rural development, improve irrigation conditions, and enhance the resilience of agricultural communities in the Okhamandal region.
