en.Wedoany.com Reported - TSL Contractors has submitted a planning application to Argyll and Bute Council in Scotland for the construction of 12 houses and 12 apartments on a plot opposite Woodside Cottage in Salen, Isle of Mull. The project is planned to be delivered in two phases, with a decision expected from the council's planning department in late August 2026.

TSL Contractors is a Scotland-based residential building company specializing in small to medium-sized housing developments. The proposed site is located in the Salen area on the eastern side of Mull, the second-largest island in Scotland's Inner Hebrides, known for its natural scenery and tourism, with a permanent population of around 3,000. Argyll and Bute Council is the largest local government area in Scotland by area, responsible for planning approvals and housing policy in the region.

According to the plans, all 12 apartments will be one-bedroom units; of the 12 houses, six will be three-bedroom and six will be two-bedroom. In a supporting statement, planning agent Bracewell stated that the project aims to create a high-quality residential community that harmonizes with the existing settlement pattern of Salen and its surrounding environment. The project will be delivered by West Highland Housing Association, and all 24 homes will be affordable housing, making a substantial contribution to addressing local housing needs in the Argyll and Bute area.

The Isle of Mull, located in a remote area of the Scottish Highlands, has long suffered from an insufficient supply of affordable housing, leading to an outflow of young people and a shortage of labor in the tourism sector. If approved, the project would become one of the largest affordable housing developments on Mull in recent years, helping to alleviate local housing pressure. The planning application has entered a public consultation period, during which residents can review the design proposals and submit feedback via the Argyll and Bute Council website.
