Seriti Community Trust Invests R50 Million to Build Police Station in South Africa

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 25, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Klarinet Police Station project was held in eMalahleni, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa, marking the project's entry into the construction phase. Seriti Power Community Trust will invest R50 million, with funds covering the construction of the police station, property transfer and legal procedures, as well as the equipment configuration required for the facility to become operational. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2027.

The project is being advanced jointly by Seriti Power Community Trust, the eMalahleni Local Municipality, the South African Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, and the South African Police Service. The eMalahleni Local Municipality is responsible for providing the project land, which will be transferred to the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, with the South African Police Service operating the station once it is completed.

Topographic mapping, geotechnical investigations, and planning zoning approvals have been completed for the project, and design documents have been submitted to the South African Department of Public Works and Infrastructure. In March 2024, the Mpumalanga Provincial Government included the new police station in the Klarinet-Siyanqoba area in the local social investment infrastructure projects, at which time the construction land had already been approved by the local council, and it was confirmed that construction funding would be provided by the Seriti Community Development Fund.

Once completed, the new police station will serve Pine Ridge, Klarinet, Siyanqoba, and surrounding communities. The project has not yet disclosed engineering parameters such as building area, the scale of major building structures, and construction contractors.
