Contractor Confirmed for ZAR 42 Million Primary School Project in South Africa

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 28, the Mpumalanga Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport in South Africa confirmed that a construction contractor has been selected for the Siboshwa Primary School construction project, and officially introduced the contractor to the local government and community by Thulaseezwe Thomo, the provincial public works official in charge. The project is located in Nkomazi Local Municipality, Mpumalanga Province, with a construction value exceeding ZAR 42 million. The works will add 14 classrooms, an administration building, a computer classroom, a library and supporting facilities, and have now entered the contractor implementation stage.

Siboshwa Primary School is located in Mashekesheni, Tonga area, Nkomazi Local Municipality. According to the tender document issued by the Mpumalanga Provincial Government in June 2026, this project corresponds to the second phase of school facility construction, with tender number PWRT/2617/26/MP, procured by the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport on behalf of the Department of Education. The project launched public tendering on June 10, held a site briefing on June 23, and closed bids on July 7.

In addition to 14 classrooms, the construction content of this phase also includes administrative office space, a computer and library room, a kitchen, power supply facilities and other school supporting buildings. The new facilities will be used for daily teaching, information technology education, library management and catering services, and the relevant buildings and public utilities are all included in this school infrastructure project.

According to the tender qualification requirements, bidding contractors must hold a Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Grade 7GB or above building construction contracting qualification. The contractor introduction event on October 28 was organized by the Mpumalanga provincial public works authority, with the Acting Executive Mayor of Nkomazi Local Municipality and local government representatives participating. The provincial government requires the contractor to implement the project in accordance with the construction period and quality standards stipulated in the contract, and requires relevant local parties to ensure the normal conduct of construction activities.
