This intercity railway project involves the development of a 276.5-kilometer new railway line between Rajasthan and Maharashtra, with a total investment of ₹30,320 million.

The intercity railway will connect the two states via several major cities, passing through Kota, Ramganj Mandi, Jhalawar, Aklera, Shirchhipur, Rajgarh, Biaora, Narsinghgarh, and Bhopal. The recently inspected Rajgarh-Shirchhipur section is a crucial component of the entire line, laying the groundwork for subsequent operational preparations.
The construction of this intercity railway will effectively enhance rail connectivity between Rajasthan and Maharashtra, providing more convenient transportation conditions for cities along the route. Upon completion, the project will further improve the regional railway network and promote economic ties and personnel movement in the areas it serves. Currently, various construction works for the intercity railway are progressing as planned, with safety regulatory agencies continuing to conduct acceptance inspections on all sections of the project.
