en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 24th, Japanese construction machinery manufacturer Komatsu showcased its Smart Construction digital solutions in the United States. This system aims to make construction tasks more efficient by connecting machinery, offices, and jobsites, and introduced several new hardware and software products.

The core of the Smart Construction solution is a cloud-based Smart Construction Dashboard, which uses design files, drone data, and as-built machine information to create a 3D virtual twin of the jobsite. This centralized view supports planning, progress tracking, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle and can import data from machinery equipped with Intelligent Machine Control (IMC) and 3D machine guidance.

Komatsu also launched the Smart Construction Dashboard Mobile, a companion app that allows users to view cut/fill volumes, stockpile dimensions, and perform site measurements on mobile devices, bringing key project information out of the office. Two new hardware solutions—Smart Construction 3D Machine Guidance Flex and Smart Construction Edge—aim to simplify and accelerate field data collection. The former can add as-built data collection capabilities to various vehicles, while the latter is an RTK base station that can process drone data directly, eliminating the need for ground control points on sites smaller than 50 acres.

Jason Anetsberger, Senior Director of Customer Solutions, said, "There is real value in having current, reliable topographic and production data from the jobsite. Understanding what was accomplished today helps teams plan for tomorrow, communicate clearly with customers, and make better decisions. Our focus is on making the collection and use of this information easier and faster."

To simplify access, Komatsu offers the Smart Construction Advantage Package, which includes the Smart Construction Dashboard, Smart Construction Remote, and Smart Construction Fleet Lite, at a price lower than purchasing them individually. The package also includes apps available only through it: Smart Construction Whiteboard, a digital scheduling tool; and Smart Construction Home, which serves as a project homepage displaying key metrics. Other Smart Construction solutions cover 3D machine guidance, remote support, design services, site tracking and project management software, as well as complementary hardware like drones.

Through Smart Construction, Komatsu continues to expand its digital tools to support predictability, collaboration, and decision-making on jobsites throughout the construction lifecycle. The application of Smart Construction solutions helps enhance construction efficiency, connecting machinery and the office environment.
