en.Wedoany.com Reported - Bukit Jalil Sentral Property Sdn Bhd (BJSP), a subsidiary of Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), has signed a cooperation agreement with Perintis Akal Sdn Bhd (PASB) to build an AI-focused data center in the Kuala Lumpur suburb of Bukit Jalil. The total development cost of the project is RM2.1 billion (approximately USD 507.3 million), with a designed capacity of 65 megawatts and a building area of about 46,000 square meters.

BJSP is under MRCB Land Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MRCB. PASB is an enterprise under PEMANDU Partners International PLT. The two parties formally signed the agreement for the above project last week. This data center is MRCB's first project in the data center sector, located on a plot of land owned by BJSP covering approximately 37,320 square meters. Under a 10-year lease agreement, PASB will serve as the long-term tenant and operator, and jointly with Inspur Communication Malaysia Sdn Bhd, will be responsible for the construction, commissioning, maintenance, and operation of the facility.

Dato’ Imran Salim, Group Managing Director of MRCB, stated in a press release that this project marks MRCB's entry into the fast-growing track of high-performance computing and the AI ecosystem. Through the 10-year lease structure, it can generate stable long-term recurring income while significantly enhancing the value of the land assets in Bukit Jalil. Salim revealed that MRCB has received multiple letters of intent for offtake agreements covering the 65 MW IT load, indicating further potential for expanding data center business in Bukit Jalil in the future. This trend is not an isolated case, as several companies are planning to invest billions of dollars in building AI data centers in Malaysia. Earlier this week, Selangor Industrial Corporation signed an agreement worth RM2.5 billion (approximately USD 602.5 million) with Data Centre Union to develop a data center in Cyberjaya.

According to MRCB, the project will be built to Uptime Institute Tier III standards, achieving 99.982% availability with redundant distribution paths, allowing maintenance without interrupting operations, making it suitable for AI computing tasks. BJSP and PASB are expected to finalize and sign the definitive agreement in the third quarter of 2026, with the entire construction scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2027.
