en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 4, Komatsu Wall Industry held a completion ceremony for Building No. 2 of its Kaga Plant in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The project represents an investment of approximately ¥9.5 billion, with a building area of approximately 19,000 square meters and a total floor area of approximately 19,700 square meters. The structure is partially a two-story steel-frame building, and the plant site, combined with the existing Kaga Plant, covers a total area of 69,741 square meters. The new facility will primarily be used for the manufacturing and research and development of movable partition products, with full-scale operations scheduled to begin in May 2027.

Construction began in May 2025, and the completion of this building marks the completion of the first phase. Subsequent work will continue with the interior finishing of the attached R&D building, followed by the phased relocation and installation of manufacturing equipment. Komatsu Wall has confirmed that equipment installation will begin in autumn 2026, and after all equipment commissioning is completed, full-scale operations will commence in May 2027.

The new plant will take over part of the movable partition production lines from Komatsu Wall's Third Plant, while also adding new production lines and automated equipment. The space freed up at the existing Third Plant will be used to expand product storage areas and reconfigure shipping operations. When the company initially announced the project in April 2024, it had already identified "increased production capacity + enhanced shipping capability" as the two core construction objectives, while also planning to build R&D facilities at the new plant.

Once Building No. 2 of the Kaga Plant is fully operational, Komatsu Wall's production capacity for its main movable partition products can be increased by up to 1.5 times the current level. The company has previously disclosed that demand for movable partitions in office spaces and other markets continues to grow, and the existing production system is already operating at near-full capacity. As a result, the company is expanding capacity by relocating some production lines from the Third Plant and adding new automated equipment at the new facility.

The project timeline was adjusted once. When Komatsu Wall first announced the plan in April 2024, construction was originally scheduled to begin in February 2025 with operations starting in June 2026. In January 2025, after completing implementation design preparations and reviewing the construction plan, the company adjusted the construction start date to May 2025 and postponed full-scale operations to May 2027. The main building has now been completed in accordance with the revised schedule.

This project is also a major capital expenditure item under Komatsu Wall's medium-term management plan, "Next Vision 2028." Following the announcement of the Kaga Plant No. 2 construction plan, the company increased its cumulative equipment investment target for the medium-term plan period from March 2024 to March 2028 from the original ¥5 billion or more to ¥15 billion or more, of which the Kaga Plant No. 2 alone accounts for approximately ¥9.5 billion.
