Wedoany.com Report-Dec 17, New route strengthens economic and tourist links between Czech Republic and Poland.
České dráhy (ČD), in partnership with Polish rail operator PKP Intercity, has launched a new international train service, the Ex32 line, linking Prague, Pardubice, Wroclaw and Gdynia. Known as the Baltic Express, the service offers four daily return trips and features modern carriages with air-conditioning, power sockets, refreshments and comfortable seating.
"Ensuring high-quality rail connections between the Czech Republic and its neighbors is one of our top priorities. This new Czech-Polish railway line connects Prague and eastern Bohemia with western Poland, including major cities and densely populated agglomerations. It opens up new opportunities to strengthen tourism and economic ties between the Czech Republic and Poland," said Czech Minister of Transport Martin Kupka.
"For us, the four daily connections from the Czech Republic to Poland are one of the most important changes in the new timetable. We are introducing them thanks to the cooperation between PKP Intercity and Czech Railways. Passengers from both countries will benefit from this cooperation. Traveling more than 800 km in nine hours is a very good result," added Janusz Malinowski, President of the Management Board of PKP Intercity.
The Baltic Express runs four times a day from Prague's main railway station, stopping at Kolín, Pardubice, Ústí nad Orlicí, Letohrad, Jablonné nad Orlicí and Lichkov in the Czech Republic. In Poland, it continues via Kladsko, Wroclaw, Poznan and Bydgoszcz to Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia, with additional stops at other major tourist and economic centers.
In the Czech Republic, the trains will consist of a total of 4 carriages, including a first-class carriage. Additional carriages, including a dining car, will be added in Wroclaw from the PKP Intercity fleet. The trains will also offer passengers, for example, an on-board Wi-Fi network and the possibility to recharge their electronic devices. The trains will include carriages for wheelchair users and for transporting bicycles.
