en.Wedoany.com Reported - The São Paulo State Public Utilities Regulatory Agency (Arsesp) has approved the interconnection of the biomethane plant at the Solví Essencis Ambiental sanitary landfill in Caieiras (São Paulo State) with Comgás's piped natural gas distribution network.

The Caieiras sanitary landfill currently produces 67,000 cubic meters of biomethane per day, which is currently distributed via compressed natural gas (CNG) trailers. Through interconnection with the Comgás pipeline network, the plant plans to expand production in phases: the first phase of expansion is scheduled for completion in 2027, adding 110,000 cubic meters of daily capacity to the existing 67,000 cubic meters; by 2028, daily production could reach approximately 220,000 cubic meters; and by 2030, estimated daily production will reach approximately 400,000 cubic meters. The relevant companies will have 30 days to sign the Interconnection Use Agreement (TUI).

The connection project plans to construct a 5.3-kilometer pipeline and establish a biomass delivery transfer station (Bio-Citygate), a facility responsible for connecting the production plant to the Comgás pipeline network.

Caieiras will become the fourth biomethane plant in São Paulo State to connect to the natural gas distribution network. To date, facilities already connected to the network include: the Santa Cruz plant in Américo Brasiliense (daily capacity of 75,000 cubic meters), the Costa Pinto plant in Piracicaba (daily capacity of 85,000 cubic meters), and the Paulínia landfill (daily capacity of 225,000 cubic meters). Necta operates an independent pipeline system in the Presidente Prudente region, supplied entirely by biomethane.
