en.Wedoany.com Reported - On May 14, 2026, Emirates announced an agreement with GE Aerospace, under which the latter will provide technical and training support to develop component repair capabilities for the GE90 and GP7200 engines in Dubai. GE Aerospace's GE90 engine powers Emirates' Boeing 777 fleet, while the Engine Alliance's GP7200 is equipped on the majority of the airline's Airbus A380s.

This collaboration will support the expansion of the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre (EEMC). The centre, with a total investment of $300 million, aims to expand infrastructure and capabilities for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of engines in Emirates' current fleet. GE Aerospace will provide technical advisory to Emirates for establishing component repair lines and transfer knowledge to the EEMC team, sharing best practices and benchmarks for component repair.

Adel Al Redha, Emirates' Deputy Chairman and Chief Commercial Officer, said: "The agreement with GE Aerospace will equip our workforce with the specialized skills required for GE90 and GP7200 engine component repair, engines which power our Boeing 777 and part of our Airbus A380 fleets respectively. Combined with the expansion of the Dubai Engine Maintenance Centre, our engineering division will be positioned as a centre of excellence for engine repair, delivering efficient and seamless engine availability services."

Mohamed Ali, President and CEO of Commercial Engines & Services at GE Aerospace, said: "Emirates is a valued customer and important partner, and GE Aerospace is proud to support the expansion of its engine repair capabilities, further enhancing the long-term capabilities of the Emirates ecosystem."

Additionally, Rolls-Royce's TRENT 900 engine is also used on some of Emirates' A380s. In November 2025, the two parties signed an agreement allowing Emirates to perform its own maintenance, repair, and overhaul on TRENT 900 engines. Emirates will build a new facility, with the first engines expected to enter the shop in 2027.
