The airline announced a total of 35 new routes nationwide throughout the year, 12 of which are based in Puebla, covering different travel scenarios such as tourism, business, family trips, and production activities.

Volaris concentrates 12 of the airline's 35 new routes announced nationwide in 2026 in Puebla.

Passenger traffic data at Puebla International Airport has risen in tandem with capacity expansion. From January to July 2026, the airport handled a cumulative total of 339,515 arriving passengers, up 19.66% compared to the same period in 2025, of which 327,839 were domestic passengers and 11,676 were international passengers.

Following the route expansion, Puebla's international destinations to the United States have increased to four: Los Angeles, New York, Houston, and Chicago. Carla López-Malo Villalón, Secretary of Tourism Development for the State of Puebla, provided a complete list of domestic markets, including Tijuana, Cancún, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Mérida, Aguascalientes, Huatulco, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Villahermosa, Puerto Escondido, and Acapulco.

To ensure the continued operation of the new routes, Puebla authorities have joined forces with travel agencies, tour operators, media, and chambers of commerce to carry out promotional efforts, while also coordinating with tourism authorities in the connected destinations. Roadshows have already been completed in Houston, New York, Los Angeles, Huatulco, Villahermosa, and Tuxtla Gutiérrez, with the next phase planned to continue in Chicago, Guadalajara, Acapulco, and Puerto Escondido, among other locations.

Jorge García, Volaris's Director of Market Development, Distribution, and Cargo, provided the airline's operating record in Puebla: from 2007 to June 2026, it has transported more than 5.3 million passengers from the local area. Héctor Francisco Landeros, President of the National Chamber of Commerce (CANACO), views this round of expansion as the result of coordination between the airline, the state government, and the business sector, and believes that more destinations will help businesses and passengers connect with different markets in both Mexico and the United States.

In parallel with the route network expansion, airport facility upgrades are also underway, with an investment of approximately 1 billion pesos designated for improving access roads, arrival and departure areas, passenger service facilities, and parking lots. Additionally, the development plan for the airport zone in Huejotzingo has been taken into consideration, with local businesses set to participate in the project, whose goal is to integrate air connectivity, economic activity, and investment.
