en.Wedoany.com Reported - Adelaide Airport in Australia is deploying a range of Amadeus self-service technologies to upgrade its passenger check-in and baggage drop processes. As Australia's fifth busiest airport, this upgrade aims to enhance the passenger experience.

Adelaide Airport Amadeus

Under the agreement, the airport will install more than 50 Amadeus Seamless Bag Drop S7 Air and S7 Air Hybrid units. These baggage drop devices support both fully self-service and staff-assisted operation modes, with a side-loading design that facilitates passenger baggage loading while also accommodating oversized items such as wheelchairs, strollers, and trolleys. In addition, the airport will deploy around 80 Amadeus Seamless Kiosk self-service check-in terminals to provide fast and simple check-in services.

Beyond the front-end devices, the airport's passenger processing systems will also migrate to the cloud. By adopting Amadeus ACUS (Airport Cloud Use Service), airlines can operate at any check-in counter and boarding gate, and conveniently access the required systems from the cloud. This technology has proven its effectiveness at several leading global airports, helping to reduce queues, improve system connectivity, and simplify operational processes when airlines launch new routes. The cloud architecture also frees Adelaide Airport from fixed network connection constraints, allowing passenger services to be delivered from new locations within the departure hall or by mobile service staff.

At the backend communication level, the airport will adopt Amadeus Smart Message for information exchange between airlines and baggage infrastructure, ensuring all systems remain synchronized. This solution will replace Teletype—a traditional messaging standard originating in the 1960s that remains widely used in the aviation industry today.

Dermot O'Neill, Executive General Manager of People, Culture, and Customer at Adelaide Airport, stated that the introduction of Amadeus' seamless travel solutions is not merely an equipment upgrade but will help the airport utilize terminal space efficiently, onboard new airline partners with ease, and deliver a more connected travel experience for passengers.

Jonathan Tong, Senior Vice President of Airports and Border Agencies for Amadeus in Asia Pacific, noted that Adelaide Airport serves a critical domestic connectivity role for South Australia alongside its continuously growing international connectivity. This transformation provides a flexible foundation for passenger services through the latest self-service innovations, with deployments covering multiple touchpoints throughout the passenger journey.
