Afghanistan's TAPI Gas Pipeline Advances 55 Kilometers, Planned for Power Generation

In addition to gas transmission, relevant parties are utilizing TAPI gas to promote power generation, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and syngas production. The Azizi Group has expressed interest in investing in the project's power generation.
Homayoun Afghan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, introduced that a 125-kilometer route has been prepared for the pipeline extension project, 107 kilometers of roads have been prepared for transporting the pipeline, and new pipes have also arrived at the site, with no obstacles hindering the project's progress.
Officials from the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum stated that the actual work on the TAPI project is proceeding normally, and the pipeline extension project in Herat Province will be completed before the end of the year.
Economic analyst Hasibullah Safi believes that utilizing TAPI gas for power generation will greatly benefit the country, as industries and government institutions have strong demand for electricity. Another analyst, Ahmad Ferdows Beghazin, added that power generation from this project can increase domestic production, support factory operations, reduce gas-related costs, and contribute to economic growth.
The TAPI project name is derived from the English initials of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. It is one of the largest gas transmission projects in the region, aiming to transport over 33 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas annually to South Asian countries.
