According to reports, this construction involves simultaneously installing two independent transmission lines on the same UHV tower. Originally, a single tower carried only one line, but now, to save land and channel resources, it carries two lines, each capable of independent power transmission. This doubles the transmission capacity, but significantly increases the difficulty of construction and power outage operations.

Shi Kai, Deputy Director of the State Grid Jibei Power Construction Department: This crossing operation was conducted at a height equivalent to a 60-story building. With a tighter schedule and greater height, it added considerable difficulty to the construction. We deployed twice the usual number of personnel and equipment to ensure the success of this crossing in one go.

With the completion of this crossing operation, the overall progress of the Datong-Huailai-Tianjin South UHV project has passed the halfway mark, and it has fully entered the stringing phase. It is understood that after the project is fully operational, it can deliver over 14.6 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, effectively promoting the optimization of the regional energy structure and green, low-carbon transformation.
