en.Wedoany.com Reported - Kenorland Minerals has initiated its first diamond drilling program at the Western Wabigoon (W2) project in northwestern Ontario, Canada. The project covers 71,140 hectares and is held under an option agreement with a subsidiary of Centerra Gold. Centerra has allocated C$3.2 million (US$2.3 million) for the summer 2026 exploration of the W2 project.

The allocated funds will be used for diamond drilling at the W2 target, as well as heavy mineral concentrate (HMC) till surveys, regional point mapping, and prospecting. The initial drilling program involves up to 3,650 meters with drill fence spacings of 250-500 meters, aimed at testing a 2.5-kilometer strike length.

The W2 project is located in the Western Wabigoon subprovince, covering key intersections of major deformation zones within the Archean greenstone belt. To the north, the Pipestone-Cameron deformation zone intersects with the Manitou-Dinorwic and Helena-Pipestone deformation zones. The Pipestone-Cameron zone hosts the Cameron gold deposit, located 30 kilometers northwest of the project boundary; the Helena-Pipestone zone contains the Rainy River deposit, 50 kilometers to the southwest. These high-strain corridors are also characterized by multiple gold mineralizations associated with quartz-carbonate veins, altered shear zones, and porphyry dikes.

Since 2024, systematic exploration has identified W2 as a strong 3-kilometer anomaly involving till gold and gold grain samples. The area is historically known as the Sorry Mac trend, with previous trenching and shallow drilling yielding gold results of several grams per tonne (g/t). Large-scale geochemical surveys conducted between 2024 and 2025 have identified W2 as the primary target within a 19-kilometer till gold and HMC gold grain trend along the Manitou-Dinorwic deformation zone. Gold mineralization occurs in areas showing significant deformation, silica-sericite-iron carbonate alteration, and quartz-carbonate veins with disseminated sulfides. Kenorland's surface exploration has confirmed the presence of gold, with samples showing up to 7.75 g/t gold.

Kenorland is overseeing the program, and drilling is expected to conclude by the end of June. In March of this year, the company signed a purchase agreement to acquire full ownership of additional mining claims in northern Ontario.
