en.Wedoany.com Reported - Kuwaiti low-cost carrier Jazeera Airways will launch a route connecting Kuwait International Airport to London Luton Airport on July 8, becoming the first Gulf airline to operate at this UK airport.

Jazeera Airways A320neo

According to data from OAG Schedules Analyser, the airline last served the London market in August 2020, when it ceased flights to London Gatwick Airport. Jazeera Airways Chief Commercial Officer Paul Carroll said the decision to operate from Luton Airport rather than larger London airports was made after months of discussions and research on airport development and passenger connectivity. Carroll noted that CEO Barathan Pasupathi visited Luton Airport last September and was impressed by the progress made over the past five years. Improved rail connections to central London and upgraded passenger facilities were key reasons for this move.

Carroll believes that underserved passenger flows between London and the Indian subcontinent can support its return to the UK market. Jazeera Airways currently serves eight destinations in India, as well as routes in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE). The airline also operates an extensive religious travel network to Saudi Arabia, including Jeddah and Medina. Carroll stated that the airline's route network will support a significant volume of passenger traffic currently not captured by London's catchment area.

Jazeera Airways currently operates a fleet of 23 Airbus A320 aircraft, including a mix of Ceos and Neos, with an additional 26 aircraft on order, the first of which is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2026. During a trade briefing, Pasupathi was en route to Airbus headquarters in Toulouse for discussions.
