Prysmian completes cable installation for UK's 1.4 GW Sofia offshore wind farm

The offshore wind farm has an installed capacity of 1.4 GW and is located in the Dogger Bank area of the North Sea. Once completed, it will be capable of powering 1.2 million homes.

Prysmian was contracted by RWE in 2021 to design, manufacture, and install the project. The company used the Leonardo Da Vinci cable-laying vessel to complete the installation of high-voltage cables totaling over 450 kilometers, both onshore and offshore. The Sofia offshore wind farm consists of 100 turbines and is located 195 kilometers from the nearest landing point.
