en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, Hitachi Vantara, a data infrastructure company under Japan's Hitachi, announced an upgrade to Hitachi EverFlex, adding outcome-oriented service-level agreements while simplifying infrastructure procurement, payment, and management models. This upgrade targets private cloud and hybrid cloud modernization scenarios, focusing on enhancing cost predictability, operational certainty, and scalability flexibility for enterprise data infrastructure.

The adjustment to EverFlex reflects a shift in enterprise IT infrastructure procurement from one-time hardware builds toward service-oriented, outcome-driven, and elastic models. In the past, enterprises building storage, computing, networking, and data protection environments typically needed to plan capacity in advance, invest capital expenditures, and bear subsequent operational maintenance pressures. As AI, data analytics, hybrid cloud, and critical business systems continue to increase workloads, over-provisioning leads to capital tie-up, while under-provisioning affects business continuity. By integrating new SLAs, flexible consumption models, and various budget types into EverFlex, Hitachi Vantara aims to allow customers to choose purchasing, leasing, pay-per-use subscriptions, or fully managed infrastructure-as-a-service models based on actual business needs, rather than making a binary choice between traditional self-built and public cloud.

This expansion includes new capital expenditure options, clear service commitments, and more flexible payment and service models. EverFlex covers the procurement, deployment, operation, and scaling of enterprise data infrastructure, enabling customers to retain partial operational control while delegating some management responsibilities to Hitachi Vantara or its partners.

In terms of SLA content, Hitachi EverFlex places greater emphasis on translating technical capabilities into contractually binding operational outcomes. Its SLA reference guide shows that EverFlex Managed covers multiple dimensions, including storage system availability, performance, storage recovery, sustainability, backup and recovery, workload data optimization, data residency, change management, problem management, incident management, and monitoring alerts. Among these, storage system availability is tiered by service level, with the highest Ultra level corresponding to 100% availability, and high-level services also include a service credit mechanism. The significance of such arrangements is that enterprises are no longer just purchasing capacity and equipment, but rather obtaining clearer outcome commitments around availability, performance, recovery capability, sustainability, and operational responsiveness.

Following the EverFlex upgrade, Hitachi Vantara will further integrate the VSP One data platform, centralized control plane VSP 360, usage metering, SLA monitoring, automation, and optimization capabilities. For industries with high data continuity and compliance requirements, such as finance, manufacturing, energy, healthcare, and public services, hybrid cloud does not mean a complete migration to public cloud, but rather achieving a balance between on-premises, hosted environments, and cloud management models. By strengthening SLAs and consumption models through EverFlex, Hitachi Vantara is essentially providing these customers with a data infrastructure path characterized by "cloud-like consumption, local control, and outcome commitments." Subsequent impacts will focus on customer acceptance of pay-per-use models, partner delivery capabilities, the actual execution effectiveness of different SLA tiers, and the growing demand for enterprise-grade storage and hybrid cloud services driven by data-intensive workloads in the AI era.
