en.Wedoany.com Reported - Peru's Ministry of Production (PRODUCE), through the Technological Institute of Production (ITP), has invested 54.4 million soles to launch new infrastructure and technological equipment at CITEagroindustrial Chavimochic, aiming to enhance the competitiveness of northern Peru's agroindustry and expand access to specialized services for innovation and productive development for over 14,000 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (Mipymes), associations, and cooperatives.

This modern innovation center, equipped with high-precision laboratories and specialized technology, will develop higher value-added food products, improve quality and safety standards, and expand access to domestic and international markets.

Minister of Production César Quispe Luján stated during the event that this new technical capability will strengthen production chains for fruit and vegetable pulps, fruit nectars (juice drinks), dehydrated products, dairy products, canned goods, aquatic derivatives, and fresh products, driving a more competitive and export-oriented agroindustry. He noted that the center will provide laboratory testing services that previously required travel abroad or to Lima, now available locally with faster response times, and plans to obtain official certification soon, making it a certified laboratory.

One of the key milestones of this implementation is the introduction of the CITE network's first spray drying service, utilizing advanced technologies such as spray drying, fluidized bed, and twin-screw extrusion to convert juices, extracts, and liquid solutions into stable, concentrated powders.

The infrastructure is equipped with multiple high-precision specialized laboratories, including the only shelf-life study laboratory in northern Peru, as well as an UHPLC system for identifying and quantifying compounds in food, an ICP-MASA system capable of detecting the lowest concentrations of heavy metals and minerals, and specialized inverted microscopes for microbial and cellular analysis in food and water.

Additionally, CITEagroindustrial Chavimochic will strengthen its comprehensive accompaniment model through specialized services such as technical support, applied research, innovation, brand development, and regulatory navigation, helping producers and entrepreneurs develop competitive products and access more commercial channels.

Through this new technical implementation, Mipymes will benefit from research, development, innovation, training, and specialized laboratory testing services, consolidating CITEagroindustrial Chavimochic as the main technological ally for Peru's agroindustrial sector. In terms of data, from 2016 to March 2026, CITEagroindustrial Chavimochic has provided over 36,000 specialized services, serving more than 6,400 Mipymes, strengthening innovation and competitiveness in northern Peru's agroindustry.

As part of its work in the region, the Minister of Production visited the Trujillo-based company Calzados Nonos, a success story of ITP CITE network technical support. In 2025, the company received 83 specialized services from CITEccal Trujillo, covering product development, process improvement, laboratory testing, and innovation, helping to enhance its competitiveness, optimize production processes, and expand growth opportunities in domestic and international markets.

Through these actions, the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) reaffirms its commitment to providing Mipymes with innovation, technology, and specialized services, enhancing their competitiveness and promoting national productive development.
