The RMB, set to be completed in five years with an estimated cost of USD500 million, aims to revolutionize Brazil's nuclear sector and contribute globally.
The ceremony marked the beginning of infrastructure works for the RMB, which will play a pivotal role in advancing Brazil's nuclear energy landscape. The RMB is designed to boost Brazil's nuclear fuel production, expand scientific research through neutron beam applications, and enhance global nuclear medicine advancements. The reactor will also support the development of fusion and particle accelerator technologies, with plans to establish research labs at the site. The project comes with ambitious goals, including supplying 40% of the world's isotope demand and fostering innovation in nuclear science and medicine.
