en.Wedoany.com Reported - Indian Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will officially launch the Land Ports Management System (LPMS) on Tuesday, a digital platform for cargo handling and passenger clearance at all Indian land ports, aiming to achieve systematic operations comparable to major airports and seaports.

According to the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs, LPMS will provide end-to-end digital workflows for border trade and travel, covering slot booking, payment, tracking, and clearance. By enabling secure, real-time exchange of logistics and regulatory data among multiple agencies and private operators, the system is expected to enhance interoperability, efficiency, and transparency in border management.

This initiative is being advanced under the Narendra Modi government's increased focus on "smart and secure" borders, leveraging technology to strengthen security and trade facilitation at India's land borders. The system is designed as a neutral, open platform that integrates operations across land ports and supports seamless coordination among stakeholders such as customs, immigration, border security forces, and trade-related service providers, aiming to reduce procedural delays and improve overall operational efficiency.

On the day of the LPMS launch in New Delhi, Shah will also inaugurate newly developed accommodation facilities at the Dawki Land Port in Meghalaya and the Srimantapur Land Port in Tripura, to enhance ground infrastructure for border security personnel and other users at these ports.

The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), a statutory body under the Border Management Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, currently operates 15 land ports along India's international borders, responsible for their development and management to support trade, connectivity, and regional cooperation. LPMS forms the core of the authority's digital transformation plan.
