en.Wedoany.com Reported - South Korean AI robotics company RealWorld showcased its self-developed robot foundation model, RLDX-1, at the "Dexterity Night in Seoul" event held in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 10th. The company's CEO, Ryu Joong-hee, stated that through a live demonstration rather than a recorded video, the model proved its ability to perform tasks stably.

A robot foundation model is an AI model pre-trained on large-scale data, capable of adapting to different robot forms and tasks.

Ryu Joong-hee pointed out that even in South Korea, which has the most advanced factory automation globally, only 75% of processes are automated, while Japan, China, and the US have only reached levels between 40% and 55%. He added that the total labor market size amounts to $4 trillion, and the company's goal is to achieve full automation of the remaining labor market.

At the event, a humanoid robot equipped with RLDX-1 grasped moving objects with its five fingers and lifted them. Ryu Joong-hee stated that tasks such as picking up small parts, performing assembly, and working under a vehicle cannot be accomplished without dexterous hands similar to those of a human.

Regarding the advantages of RLDX-1, Ryu Joong-hee emphasized its data capabilities. He stated that the company has built its own data pipeline, enabling robots to mimic human actions. Using the example of partner Lotte Hotel, RealWorld captured the work content of hotel employees and extracted hand motion data, acquiring tacit knowledge data of hand skills. Additionally, the company uses synthetic data, requiring only 20% real data, with the remaining 80% augmented by AI to form a complete dataset. Ryu Joong-hee claimed that its synthetic data pipeline outperforms Nvidia's synthetic data pipeline.

This event was the final one following stops in San Francisco, USA; Tokyo, Japan; and last week's Computex 2026 in Taipei. A RealWorld representative explained that Seoul was chosen as the final destination, considering South Korea, with its excellent automation infrastructure and manufacturing competitiveness, as a strategic base for introducing Physical AI and expanding the global ecosystem.

RealWorld has received investments from companies including SK Telecom, LG Electronics, CJ Logistics, and Lotte, and is advancing robot transformation projects with over 10 partners. The company has raised a cumulative 60 billion KRW in seed round 2 funding.

Ryu Joong-hee stated that the company is accelerating the commercial application of RLDX-1 across various industrial sectors, and the next-generation model, RLDX-2, is also under development. RealWorld plans to collaborate with major US tech companies to expand the East Asian Physical AI ecosystem, centered on South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan, to a global standard.
