Wedoany.com Report-Feb 27, The Works Minister, David Umahi, has called on cement manufacturers to slash their prices to N7,000 to keep up with improving economic conditions. He attributed the appreciation of the naira and reduced petrol prices to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic policies.

Umahi also cautioned telecom provider MTN and construction company RCC over delays in the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway project, setting a firm completion deadline of May 10, 2026. He emphasized no variation or value-added payment (VOP) on the project and stressed MTN's responsibility not to let profit interfere with timely delivery.

RCC was reminded of contractual obligations and the government's commitment to quality. The minister clarified that using peeled sand instead of river sand was against quality standards. RCC demanded an additional N14 billion, which was not tolerated.

Both parties were urged to align with the Renewed Hope Agenda (RHA) and complete the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway on schedule for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision.
