en.Wedoany.com Reported - Spanish energy company Naturgy has commissioned two solar photovoltaic power plants in two Australian states, with a total capacity of 360 MW, and has begun fulfilling a contract to supply renewable electricity to telecommunications giant Telstra.
Through its international power generation subsidiary Global Power Generation (GPG), Naturgy announced that the 260 MW solar photovoltaic plant in Glenellen, New South Wales, and the 96 MW solar project in Bundaberg, Queensland, have been commissioned.
The Glenellen solar plant is Naturgy's largest in Australia to date, covering 300 hectares and equipped with 373,000 modules. It has an annual generation potential of 450 GWh, enough to power approximately 80,000 households. The project is designed as an agrivoltaic plant, combining renewable energy generation with agricultural activities, with sheep grazing for livestock production within the site.
The Bundaberg solar plant is Naturgy's first project in Queensland, featuring over 162,000 modules and generating approximately 200 GWh annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of about 36,000 households.

Long-term power purchase agreements have been signed for the electricity output from both projects, including an agreement with Telstra. Telstra will purchase 50% of the electricity generated by the Glenellen plant, with the agreement signed in September 2024. Telstra also signed an agreement in December 2023 to purchase the majority of the electricity from the Bundaberg plant.
These two projects bring Naturgy's total installed capacity in operation to 1.3 GW, with an additional 500 MW under construction and a 2 GW project pipeline under development in Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia, and Queensland.
