19.62 kW Photovoltaic System with 30 kWh Energy Storage Installed at Spanish Municipal Company Headquarters
en.Wedoany.com Reported - The headquarters of El Puerto Global, a municipal company in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz Province, Spain), has completed the installation of a photovoltaic self-consumption system with energy storage. The project, promoted by the city council, aims to reduce the building's reliance on grid electricity and improve energy efficiency.

The photovoltaic plant consists of 36 solar panels with a rated power of 545 Wp each, totaling an installed capacity of 19.62 kWp, and is equipped with three batteries with a combined storage capacity of 30 kWh. Based on an annual reference consumption of 43,461 kWh, the building will only need to purchase approximately 13,967 kWh from the grid each year once the system is operational.
Regarding the installation method, the panels are mounted on a metal structure above the sloped tile roof, mechanically fixed with aluminum profiles and no ballast, facing due south. According to project estimates, the system will generate and utilize approximately 29,494 kWh of electricity annually, covering 67.86% of the building's electricity demand. The city council projects a total annual generation of approximately 32,050 kWh, of which 92.03% will be directly self-consumed by El Puerto Global facilities, with the remaining 7.97% fed into the grid when it cannot be absorbed.
In terms of economic benefits, the facility will save approximately €370 per month on electricity costs, equivalent to around €4,440 per year, representing a reduction of nearly 40% compared to current electricity expenses. The system also includes a management and monitoring unit for real-time supervision of photovoltaic generation, battery charge/discharge status, and surplus electricity. According to the city council, electricity consumption from non-renewable sources will be reduced by 67.86%, and the building's own facilities will cover nearly 70% of its electricity demand.
