en.Wedoany.com Reported - The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on Thursday raised its forecast for Brazil's 2025/26 corn production to 138 million tons, an increase of 3 million tons from last month's estimate.

This upward revision comes as Brazil begins harvesting its 2025/26 second-crop corn, which accounts for the vast majority of the country's total corn output.

The USDA's adjustment brings its forecast closer to the estimate from Brazil's National Supply Company (Conab), which on Thursday projected Brazil's corn production at 140.46 million tons.

The USDA also raised its forecast for Brazil's 2025/26 domestic corn consumption to 96 million tons, up 2.5 million tons from the May projection.

The export forecast remains unchanged at 43 million tons, matching the projected export volume for Argentina in the 2025/26 season. Argentina's massive corn production for that season poses a threat to Brazil's position as the world's second-largest corn exporter.

According to USDA data, Brazil exported 42 million tons of corn in the previous season, while Argentina exported 29 million tons.

Brazil's domestic corn consumption in 2025/26 is expected to increase by 4.5 million tons year-on-year, driven primarily by growth in the country's ethanol production, which uses corn as a feedstock.

The USDA also noted that Brazil's 2026/27 corn production is forecast at 139 million tons, unchanged from last month's projection, but subject to confirmation based on next year's harvest. Brazil's corn exports for that season are expected to reach 44 million tons, compared to 38 million tons for Argentina.

For soybeans, the USDA maintained its forecast for Brazil's 2025/26 (already harvested) soybean production at 180 million tons.

The forecast for the 2026/27 soybean crop, which will be planted starting in September, stands at 186 million tons, unchanged from last month's projection, which would mark a new record output.

The USDA forecasts Brazil's 2026/27 soybean exports at 117.5 million tons, unchanged from last month, and up from 115 million tons in the 2025/26 season.
