en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 10, the first 25MW-class offshore wind turbine gearbox independently developed by Chinese wind power transmission equipment manufacturer NGC officially rolled off the production line at its Jiangsu Jinhu factory and passed third-party product certification. The product has independent intellectual property rights and is designed for ultra-large offshore wind turbine units. It adopts a multi-stage planetary transmission and lightweight structural solution, reducing axial dimensions by more than 30% and maximum outer diameter by more than 20% compared with traditional designs.

The gearbox can be adapted to a fully integrated drivetrain consisting of the wind turbine main shaft, gearbox, and generator, and internally adopts an ultra-compact multi-stage planetary transmission and multi-planet gear structure. By optimizing the gearbox configuration and the layout of internal transmission components, NGC reduces the overall weight while shrinking the equipment's external dimensions, and increases the torque density of products at the same power level.

Product development covered ultra-large gearbox configuration design, multi-operating-condition dynamic simulation, dynamic optimization of the gear transmission system, high-precision machining of large key components, and test verification. According to test results published by NGC, key performance indicators such as transmission efficiency, vibration, and noise are all better than design requirements. The product has been designed for adaptability to offshore conditions of high humidity, salt fog, strong winds, and complex alternating loads.

NGC also equipped the product with an on-tower maintainable structure, allowing key components and wear-prone consumable parts to be maintained on the wind turbine tower. An endoscope inspection path is reserved inside the gearbox to facilitate inspection and condition assessment of core transmission components such as gears and bearings, and a condition monitoring and performance evaluation solution is also provided.

NGC's existing wind power gearbox products cover power levels from 1.5MW to above 25MW, including high-speed gearboxes, medium-speed gearboxes, and integrated drivetrains. The company has established two major wind power main gearbox product platforms, NGC StanGear and NGC WinGear, which adopt rolling bearing and sliding bearing technology routes respectively, and can provide standardized and customized configurations according to the needs of wind turbine OEM customers.
