en.Wedoany.com Reported - Everllence has announced the world's first order for its new-generation dual-fuel methane engine, the Mk10.7. Norwegian shipowner Global Car Carriers (GCC) will equip its next-generation car carriers with Everllence B&W ME-GI (Gas Injection) Mk10.7 engines.

The order includes four 6S60ME-GI Mk10.7 engines, which will be built by CSSC Engine Co., Ltd. in Qingdao and installed on four 8,600 CEU car carriers currently under construction at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing.

Bjarne Foldager, Head of Two-Stroke Business at Everllence, stated that this marks the first commercial application of the ME-GI engine on the Mk10.7 platform, reflecting market confidence in dual-fuel methane technology. The new platform further enhances ME-GI capabilities based on existing technology. This first order also highlights the close collaboration between shipowners, shipyards, and engine manufacturers, solidifying Everllence's position as a supplier of two-stroke dual-fuel propulsion solutions.

Christian Ludwig, Vice President of Global Sales and Promotion for Everllence's Two-Stroke Business, explained that these vessels will be equipped with the latest ME-GI design, offering operational flexibility, the highest fuel efficiency, negligible methane slip, and proven reliability based on the diesel cycle combustion principle. He noted that the ME-GI concept has been widely adopted in the maritime industry, supported by a strong order book and extensive in-service experience, cementing its status as the preferred dual-fuel solution. The ME-GI platform alone has accumulated orders for over 1,260 engines, with a total power output exceeding 33 GW.

The new vessels represent an advancement in the car carrier segment, combining large capacity with future-proof propulsion technology. By choosing the ME-GI 10.7 platform, GCC gains operational confidence from a proven dual-fuel platform, supported by extensive cross-sector in-service experience, reducing technical risk; lower fuel consumption and higher profitability driven by the high thermal efficiency of the diesel combustion cycle; fuel flexibility without efficiency loss, enabling shipowners to optimize fuel strategies over time while maintaining consistently high performance in both fuel oil and methane operations; and near-zero methane slip to reduce environmental footprint, supporting compliance strategies and minimizing risks related to future methane regulations.

With the introduction of the Mk10.7 generation, the ME-GI engine program continues to expand across multiple sectors. With hundreds of engines already in service or on order globally, the ME-GI concept remains a cornerstone of Everllence's dual-fuel product portfolio.
