At the inauguration ceremony, Brendan Nelson, Senior Vice President of Boeing and President of Boeing Global, stated that it is hard to imagine another place achieving such outstanding results with such efficient and safe speed and efficiency. Our team is ready to support airlines with faster turnaround times and greater technical depth."

Shanghai Boeing was established in June 2006 as a joint venture between Boeing, Shanghai Airport Authority, and China Eastern Airlines, holding multiple international certifications in maintenance and design. The new hangar project commenced on June 20, 2024, setting a Shanghai record for obtaining land, permits, and starting construction on the same day. After one and a half years of construction, the hangar passed completion acceptance in December 2025 and obtained comprehensive completion filing in February 2026. Shanghai Boeing's original hangar was located at the west finger pier of the under-construction Terminal 3 of Pudong Airport's Phase 4 expansion; this relocation is a prerequisite for the full completion of Phase 4.
