en.Wedoany.com Reported - Chemical company SABIC recently launched a new LNP ELCRIN DC0051RC1 compound, made from polycarbonate resin containing 75% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. It is SABIC's first carbon fiber reinforced compound based on PCR.

This compound is primarily targeted at consumer electronics enclosure applications, offering high modulus, excellent dimensional stability, and low warpage, making it suitable for laptop housings and other thin-wall structural components. SABIC states that the compound achieves a UL94 V0 flame retardant rating at a thickness of 0.8mm, while utilizing a non-chlorinated, non-brominated flame retardant system to reduce health and environmental risks.

Sergi Monros, Vice President of SABIC's Specialty Products business, said: "SABIC supports customers in developing new materials that enhance circularity, but we do more than just incorporate recycled, upcycled, or bio-based content into specialty thermoplastics. Our formulation experts also achieve high levels of performance, aesthetics, and processability. For example, this new LNP ELCRIN compound combines a high percentage of recycled content with many excellent properties. We are committed to helping customers improve circularity without sacrificing quality."

Supporting circular economy goals while maintaining key mechanical and flame retardant properties was the design direction for this formulation. LNP ELCRIN DC0051RC1 is now commercially available globally.
