Nordex Secures 94MW Turbine Order for Nova Scotia Wind Project

Wedoany.com Report-Mar 19, Nordex Group has received an order to supply and install 16 N163/5.X turbines for a wind energy project in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Each turbine has a nominal output of 5.9MW.

The deal, which includes a 25-year service agreement for the turbines, totals 94MW. The customer and wind farm details remain confidential.

The turbines, each with a nominal output of 5.9MW, are scheduled for delivery to the project from mid-2026.

Designed for cold climates, the turbines will be mounted on 125m high tubular steel towers and feature the Nordex Advanced Anti-Icing System for rotor blades to maintain high availability during winter.

Nordex Group CEO division North America Manav Sharma stated: “This is another project with which the Nordex Group is further expanding its market position in Canada.

“15 years ago, we integrated an anti-icing system for rotor blades into our turbines for the first time. Today, our proven anti-icing solution is one of the keys to our success in cold climate regions – such as Canada. Since ice formation on the rotor blade surface is prevented, ice-related downtimes are minimised.”

Nordex has installed 57GW of wind power capacity in 40 markets in its corporate history and generated consolidated sales of €7.3bn in 2024.

In early 2025, PC Renewables ordered 19 N149/5.X turbines from the Nordex Group for projects in Greece amounting to 100MW. These turbines, set on 100m high hubs, will be distributed among three wind farms located in Rodopi, Livadaki and Timenio.

Umweltgerechte Kraftanlagen, a German wind and solar park developer, also placed an order with the Nordex Group for 80 turbines from the Delta4000 series. This order will add 540MW capacity to wind energy projects across Germany.
